Welcome to the atlasNRI webpage
The atlasNRI web-mapping platform is developed to provide free access to a wide range of users to view important basic service delivery information. The information is illustrated by selected key indicators on maps. These key indicators are mapped for selected administrative areas in Papua New Guinea (PNG). The administrative areas in this case refer to the 22 provinces and 89 districts in PNG. These are planning bases for basic service delivery. For the time being, the universal basic education (UBE) selected key indicators are mapped to allow viewers to read Access Rates, Cohort Retention Rates and Quality represented by average examination pass mark for grade 8 students in 2019. Click here to read more information (Magury’s paper - 2019).
The atlasNRI webpage as a tool is populated by indicators of basic service delivery in education and will be updated by indicators of health and income levels of households at district levels in each province in Papua New Guinea. This page will be updated by Development Indicators Research Program (DIRP) team and supported by all Research Programs at the Institute.
NRI continues to promote evidence-based policy and development planning and hence social and economic information is essential to inform users for district level. This information is valuable for policy and funding interventions and can be targeted to improve basic service delivery and achieve improvements to people’s lives.
Since 2014, District Development Authority Act (DDAA) was enacted and decisions on projects can be supported financially at this level.
Any suggestions for improvements on this page are welcome.
