Access to periodic and administrative population-based data is a challenge in PNG. Generating information on topics such as fertility, mortality, internal migration, urbanisation, and employment at district, provincial, and national levels is difficult. How can access to data be improved?
It is critical to identify and assess the key trends, drivers, and effects in relation to the well-being of PNG citizens. These must be developed to fit the complex PNG context, including the use of appropriate technologies.
Key development indicators need to be integrated into development planning and decision making at national and sub-national levels. Databases must be established, and stakeholders provided opportunities for collaboration.
