Gender in PNG Program
Research Fellow
Mary Fairio is a Research Fellow for the Gender in PNG Program. She has a Master’s degree in Political Science and a Graduate Certificate in Gender Studies (Ohio University – United States). Before joining PNG NRI in May 2017, Mary previously worked with the Constitutional and Law Reform Commission (CLRC) under the Research and Publication Division for 8 years. She has experience working on various gender issues and law: CEDAW, violence against women, sorcery, women’s health, and women leadership. Her interest is in understanding gender issues in PNG particularly women leadership, and findings ways to improve women’s participation not only in the political sphere, but also in other spheres.
